Separated shoulder sidelines Souray

Sportsnet.ca — The Edmonton Oilers will be without one of their big off-season acquisitions for the next three-to-four weeks as Sheldon Souray has a separated left shoulder.

The Oilers blueliner suffered the injury in Edmonton’s 4-1 loss to the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday. Souray fell on his shoulder during a fight with Canucks center Byron Ritchie midway through the third period.
Souray signed a five-year deal with Edmonton this past summer. In six games this season, he has one goal and one assists with a minus-3 rating.

Entering this campaign with the Oilers, the Elk Point, Alta., native had scored 53 goals in the past three seasons. Souray led all NHL defencemen last year with 26 goals, adding a career-high 38 assists in 81 games for the Montreal Canadiens. Souray’s 19 power-play goals were second in the NHL last season, with only forward Teemu Selanne counting more.
