Stajan earns Flames’ Bill Masterton Trophy nomination

Matt Stajan talks about reaching 1,000 games in the NHL and how he was able to adapt to make it to the impressive mark.

Forward Matt Stajan has been named the Calgary Flames‘ nominee for the 2017-18 Bill Masterton Trophy.

The annual award goes to the NHL player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey.

Stajan and his wife Katie have been staples in the Calgary community since their arrival eight seasons ago. As ambassadors for the Alberta Children’s Hospital, they are participants in Children’s Hospital events, making regular visits to rooms and participating in weekday activities.

On March 21, Stajan skated in his 1,000th NHL game, becoming only the 319th player in league history to hit the milestone.
