The Dallas Stars have acquired defenceman Jamie Oleksiak from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for a 2019 fourth-round pick.

Oleksiak, 26, was originally traded by Dallas to Pittsburgh in 2017 for a 2019 fourth-round pick, which will now go back to the Penguins. In 36 games this season, the Toronto native has four goals and seven assists.

The news comes after Dallas announced that defenceman Marc Methot will miss the remainder of the season after having surgery to repair a cartilage defect in his left knee.

“Our blue line has been depleted by injury all season and acquiring Jamie will give us depth at defence,” said Stars general manager Jim Nill. “We know him very well and we’re excited to have him back in the fold.”
