Stars’ Bishop sustains lower-body injury; out at least 2 weeks

Watch as Ben Bishop robs Bryan Little with a nice glove save but would be injured while making the stop.

For a play that looked so amazing, the aftermath was oh-so-terrible for the Dallas Stars.

Goaltender Ben Bishop had to leave midway through the first period of a scoreless contest Sunday against the Winnipeg Jets after making an incredible glove save off of Bryan Little.

The Stars announced Bishop has a lower-body injury. He was replaced by Kari Lehtonen, and Stars coach Ken Hitchcock said after a 4-2 loss that Bishop be re-evaluated in two weeks.

The injury occurred after Jets forward Mathieu Perreault sent a cross-ice pass to linemate Little, whose one-timer was snared by Bishop. The goaltender had to push off and slide to the far post to make the save. He appeared to be in discomfort right away.

Bishop was 26-17-5 with a 2.50 goal-against average and .916 save percentage entering Sunday’s game.

The Stars were tied for the second wild-card spot in the Western Conference with the Anaheim Ducks before puck drop. The Stars held the tiebreaker.
