The Dallas Stars have re-signed defenceman Reece Scarlett to a one-year, two-way contract.

Scarlett, 26, has spent the last two seasons with the AHL’s Texas Stars, but only skated in a single game in 2018-19 before suffering a season-ending knee injury. In 44 2017-18 contests with Texas, Scarlett registered seven points and 46 penalty minutes.

The Sherwood Park, Alta., native was originally selected by New Jersey in the sixth round (159th overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft and was acquired by Dallas in a trade with the Florida Panthers in November 2017.
