Dallas Stars defenceman John Klingberg will be out a minimum of two weeks with an injury, head coach Jim Montgomery announced.
The injury occurred in the second period of Tuesday’s 4-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche. While standing in front of the Stars’ net, Klingberg was struck by a one-timed shot from Avalanche defender Nikita Zadorov.
Klingberg remained in the game for the rest of the second period but did not return for the third.
The injury is another blow to a Stars blue line that is already shorthanded. The team is currently without regulars Stephen Johns (head), Roman Polak (upper-body) and Andrej Sekera (undisclosed).
Klingberg had an assist against the Avalanche before leaving the game and has four points in 17 games this season.
