When the Dallas Stars host the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday night, star forward Alexander Radulov won’t be in the lineup.
Head coach Jim Montgomery has decided to make Radulov a healthy scratch for the first time this season as the team is on a four-game losing streak. The skid comes on the heels of winning seven in a row before that.
“Trying to do what we think is the best for the Dallas Stars,” Montgomery said after Thursday’s morning skate, calling Radulov an elite player in the NHL.
“This is an opportunity for him to watch and get back into the lineup and help our team win hockey games.”
Radulov has eight goals and seven assists in 29 games this season. But he’s been scoreless in four in a row and was a minus-three over that stretch. He played just 14:03 on Tuesday in a 5-1 road loss in Winnipeg.
The Russian is in the third year of a five-year contract with Dallas which sees him paid $6.25 million per season.
