The trial for Steve Moore’s civil suit against Todd Bertuzzi, the Vancouver Canucks and former coach Marc Crawford has been delayed.
Lawyers for Moore confirmed to the New York Times on Saturday that the trial has been pushed back from Sept. 24 to late January.
Moore, a former Colorado Avalanche forward, sustained three fractured neck vertebrae, deep facial cuts and a career-ending concussion when he was attacked from behind by Bertuzzi, then with the Canucks, during a game on March 8, 2004.
The incident was in retaliation after Moore checked Markus Naslund in the head during a previous game that injured the star Canucks forward. Moore did not receive a penalty or any disciplinary action on the play.
Moore originally filed his multimillion-dollar civil suit in February 2006.
