Steven Stamkos fined $5,000 for ‘dangerous trip’ on Morgan Rielly

The Tampa Bay Lightning scored 4 unanswered goals to stun the Maple Leafs 4-3 Tuesday at Amalie Arena.

Tampa Bay Lightning forward Steven Stamkos has been fined $5,000 for what the NHL department of player safety is calling “a dangerous trip” of Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Morgan Rielly.

The $5,000 is the maximum allowed under the current CBA.

The money will go to the players’ emergency assistance fund.

More to come.
