OTTAWA — Tampa Bay Lightning forward Martin St. Louis left Saturday’s game against the Ottawa Senators after being accidentally cut in the face by a linesman’s skate.
The play happened with less than a minute to go in the third period right after a faceoff.
As Mike Fisher and Jussi Jokinen scrummed off the draw, linesman Derek Amell was knocked off-balance and had his skate come up and hit St. Louis in the face.
The veteran winger was taken straight to the dressing room and was bleeding profusely.
After the game, head coach Rick Tocchet told Sportsnet’s Ian Mendes that he was hopeful that St. Louis would not miss any time.
Ottawa won the game 2-0.
