Mats Sundin has not joined the Vancouver Canucks, despite reports coming out of Sweden.
As reported on the Globe and Mail’s website Sunday, Sundin’s Swedish-based representative, Claes Elefalk, claims a story that appeared in the Daily News is completely false, after being contacted by reporter Dusan Umicevic for a quote. Despite Elefalk telling the reporter that his information was false, the story was published anyway.
“I’m not sure on what basis they made their report but there’s no truth to it,” Sundin’s agent J.P. Barry told Sportsnet. “Mats is still trying to make up his mind on whether he wants to play, and we need to decide that before we (pick a team).”
Early this week, Canucks GM Mike Gillis was on aVancouver radio station and said he was still confident that Sundin would accept the club’s two-year, $20 million offer.
