Gotta See It: Lightning fans take Cup to the club

Lightning fans have channeled their desire for a second Stanley Cup into a bass-heavy Florida club anthem. Uncle Luke would be proud.

Ignore, for a moment, that there is more footage of skateboarding and SCUBA diving than there is of ice hockey in the following clip.

Set aside, if you will, the sneaking feeling that Lil Jon was unavailable to star in this “Turn Down for What”-sampled rallying cry for Lord Stanley.

Discount the fact that Lil Jon is actually a Montreal Canadiens supporter, if P.K. Subban’s Twitter feed is to be believed:

Maybe the spirit of the Stanley Cup Playoffs — the most grueling and hallowed tournament in all of sports — can be properly captured by bikinis and palm trees and shoutouts to “Ben Bishop and the whole crew.” Or maybe fans of all the other Eastern Conference playoff teams are just jealous they can’t cannonball into an outdoor pool right now.

As Tampa-based emcee/producer Jinx rhymes in “We Want the Cup,” the Bolts supporters’ bass-heavy anthem hoping recreate 2004 all over again: “The Cup need a tan/ Ten years later, bring it back to the sand.”

Kinda bummed no one tried to work Kristers Gudlevskis into a rhyme, though:
