Thrashers’ Peverley gets 2-year extension

ATLANTA — Atlanta centre Rich Peverley, who has seven points in the Thrashers’ first five games, has signed a two-year contract extension worth US$2.65 million.

The 27-year-old Peverley has four goals and three assists in the Thrashers’ 4-1 start. He’ll make $1.25 million next season and $1.4 million in 2011-12.

He leads the team with three power-play goals and two game-winning goals.

Peverley was claimed off waivers from Nashville in January.

The native of Guelph, Ont., has 42 points in 44 games with Atlanta.
