The Calgary Flames visit Las Vegas for the first time in team history to square off with the Golden Knights. Here are three stats you need to know before this Western Conference tilt.

1.The Golden Knights are hot! The Flames? not so much

The Golden Knights have taken the NHL by storm and they’ve been great as of late. The Flames have had a roller-coaster of a season and have struggled the past few games. Vegas is 3-1-0 in its past four games, outscoring opponents 15-8.  Calgary has lost four of its past six games, going 2-3-1 and has been outscored 22-16.

The Golden Knights won their only game versus the Flames this season 4-2.

2. Vegas’s power play vs. Calgary’s penalty kill

Vegas has dominated teams in a lot of areas but recently it’s been dominant with the man advantage. The Golden Knights are 15-for-38 on the power play in their last 14 games (39.5 per cent). The Flames have struggled on the PK, killing just 29 of 39 penalties in their last 11 games (74.4 per cent).

The Flames penalty kill is ranked 19th (79.6 per cent) while the Knights power play is ninth in the NHL at 21.2 per cent.

3. The Golden Knights home dominance vs. the Flames road success

The “Vegas Flu” seems to be the real deal and the Golden Knights’s record proves that. They’re 22-5-2 at home this season and are averaging 3.52 goals at T-Mobile Arena. The Golden Knights have killed 21 of 23 penalties in their last 12 home games (91.3 per cent). Marc-Andre Fleury is 3-1-0 with a 2.02 goals-against average and .929 save percentage in his last four home starts.

The Flames have found ways to win when they’ve been the visiting squad. Calgary is 17-7-5 and averaging 2.90 goals a contest on the road this season. David Rittich gets the start and has produced a road record of 6-1-2.

Bonus Stats: William Karlsson has more goals (30) and points (59) this season than he had in his first three seasons combined. Calgary has had 18 games that ended in overtime or shootout and that’s tied for second-most in the NHL.
