Toronto Maple Leafs Centennial Classic sweater leaks?

Mike Babcock, Jake Gardiner and Auston Matthews discuss the lights going out at MasterCard Centre, and that it was definitely message received at practice, following their worst loss of the season.

The hype machine for the NHL’s upcoming 2017 outdoor games kicked into full gear Wednesday.

In addition to the unveiling of the St. Louis Blues and Chicago Blackhawks’ Winter Classic sweaters, the NHL announced that a limited number of tickets would go on sale Thursday morning for Jan. 1’s Centennial Classic in Toronto.

Then this little photo leaked to the Internet:

Care of “a reliable, anonymous source,” jersey hound Chris Creamer secured an image of what appears to be the Toronto Maple Leafs‘ Centennial Classic sweater via SportsLogos.net.

The jersey (pictured in infant size and, thus, possibly different from the adult version) features silver veins on the new Leafs crest as well as a silver-trimmed bar across the chest and arms, not unlike the one featured on the traditional Montreal Canadiens uniforms or the new Florida Panthers shirts.

No images of the opposing Detroit Red Wings‘ uniforms have leaked yet.

The Original Six foes face off on New Year’s Day at Toronto’s BMO Field in a rematch of their 2014 Winter Classic.
