Like many NHL players, Dustin Penner has some time on his hands.
With the lockout reaching its 80th day on Tuesday, the two-time Stanley Cup champion has been looking for ways to pass the time.
Conan O’Brien lent the Los Angeles Kings forward a helping hand, allowing Penner to take an intern position on his late-night talk show.
His tasks were simple: reload the photocopier, heat up Conan’s pies and sweeping up the office, all with a unique NHL flair.
“I called my agent, who used to work in Hollywood, and asked if he could find me something to do,” Penner told the Winnipeg Sun after filming the sketch last week. “I don’t want to get paid. I’m not looking for a real job. Just something fun, a life experience thing that I can look back at.”
“I’m trying to bully my way to the top of the food chain at TBS.”
With no end to the lockout in sight, Penner may have enough time to do just that.
