Source: NHL probing Tucker-Avery spat

TORONTO — The NHL is looking into a pre-game incident Saturday between Sean Avery of the New York Rangers and Jason Blake and Darcy Tucker of the Toronto Maple Leafs, a source has told The Canadian Press.

Tucker acknowledged Avery’s remarks without being specific at practice on Monday.

"He has no sense of class and you know, what goes around comes around in this game, eventually," Tucker told reporters.

The incident seemed to be sparked by Avery, who was yelling at Tucker before shoving Blake. Tucker then slashed the Rangers agitator and the two got face-to-face in a heated exchange.

Players from both teams ended up surrounding Tucker and Avery.

"It goes beyond just getting under guys’ skin, I think (Avery) takes it to a personal level and that’s what guys hate about him," Leafs enforcer Wade Belak told reporters at practice. "I think it’s sort of known you don’t really start digging into people’s personal lives.

"You know, call us bad hockey players or whatever but when you start bringing other people into it, that’s definitely crossing the line."

Tucker and Avery ended up fighting during the first period.

Feedback

This is just another kick in the pants for the NHL on dealing with certain players like Avery who have had run-ins with players in the past. If the comments were made by Avery than he should be suspended for his actions theres no place for ignorance in the league and I’m disgusted with it.

If Avery is getting personal then he should be stopped. As I watch him do “his thing” it does seem that guys go ballistic on him so he must be getting to them in a personal way. If the NHL is serious about cleaning up it’s image and differentiating it from the WWF then guys like Avery have to be eliminated. Tucker ain’t no prize either!!!

Tucker is always whining about something, just like Avery said last year…somebody messes up Darcy’s hair he whines….lol
