Twitter Reaction: Blue Jackets eliminate Lightning with historic sweep

The Columbus Blue Jackets defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning to complete the shocking sweep and win their first playoff series in franchise history.

It what can only be described as one of the biggest upsets in Stanley Cup Playoffs history, the Columbus Blue Jackets have completed an astonishing first-round sweep of the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Tampa Bay tied the NHL record for most wins in a season with 62 and were widely considered to be the favorite to take home Lord Stanley’s prize.

Conversely, the Blue Jackets had never won a playoff series in their existence and had won a total of five playoff games since they entered the league in the 2000-01 season.

Understandably, #HockeyTwitter had an absolute field day.
