Twitter Reaction: Oilers trade Yakupov to St. Louis

Nail Yakupov spoke about if he was comfortable coming back to Edmonton next season after requesting a trade.

So much for one last quiet Friday night before the new NHL season starts.

The Edmonton Oilers caused quite a stir when they announced they’d traded 2012 first-overall draft pick Nail Yakupov to the St. Louis Blues.

In return, the Oilers receive 22-year-old prospect Zach Pochiro and a conditional draft pick in 2017. Pochiro spent the 2015-16 season playing for the Quad City Mallards of the ECHL.

As per usual, Hockey Twitter had a lot to say about the deal.

While the trade itself came as no surprise, Yakupov’s landing spot raised a few eyebrows.

Some agreed with the move.

Others, not so much.

It’s clear Yakupov will be missed around Edmonton.

No matter where you stand on the trade, you have to feel for this fan.

Oh, and don’t get too comfortable. It appears the Oilers aren’t quite done yet…
