Crawford delivers Cup rally’s beauty speech

With his memorable speech, Chicago Blackhawks goalie Corey Crawford steals the spotlight during the 2013 Stanley Cup championship victory rally Friday, June 28, 2013 in Chicago.

Serious questions surrounded the Chicago Blackhawks’ Stanley Cup victory parade Friday.

Who will deliver the most heartfelt speech? Who will have one too many before grabbing the microphone? Most important, who will have the courage to launch into a cringe-inducing jock rap?

Crawford accepted with a short, jubilant, profane address to the thousands gathered in Grant Park, citing the dedication of his teammates.

The tone of Friday’s sunny rally was set by Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel, who described the weekday parade as an opportunity for the entire city to enjoy a “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.” Minus some joker walking around in a Red Wings jersey, we’re sure:

In case you think the Blackhawks aren’t a classy operation, on the day of the parade the club took out a full-page ad in the Boston Globe thanking the runner-up Boston Bruins:
