“This is how it is in Smashville, baby!”
Approximately nine months from now there could be a lot of babies named Pekka, Filip, P.K., and Roman in the state of Tennessee if the Nashville Predators can win two of their next three against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Minutes after the Preds beat the Pens 4-1 Monday to even the Stanley Cup Final at two games apiece, sports reporter Chris Harris of NBC affiliate WSMV-TV Channel 4 in Nashville was filing a report outside Bridgestone Arena.
Predators supporters are as enthusiastic as any fan base across the NHL but Harris got a little more than he bargained for during his live news hit when a couple — well, we assume it was a couple but they could have been friendly strangers — standing behind him began playing tonsil hockey.
Apparently one symptom of catching Stanley Cup fever is raging hormones.
“I mean, people are fired up,” Harris said while gesturing to the couple. “You see what’s happening here? We may have, like, conception going on.”
Harris’s colleagues in studio can be heard laughing throughout his report.
“Are you kidding me?” Harris added. “This is how it is in Smashville, baby!”
