Watch: Young Wild fan thanks Canucks’ Sam Gagner for hockey stick

Vancouver Canucks forward Jake Virtanen gets a shot off, collects his own rebound and fires one past Minnesota Wild goalie Devan Dubnyk to make it 1-0 for his team.

The Vancouver Canucks beat the Minnesota Wild 1-0 on Tuesday, but for one young Wild fan in attendance the final score isn’t going to be what he remembers about the game.

Following the pre-game warmups, a boy wearing a Zach Parise jersey was filmed asking Canucks players if he can have one of their hockey sticks. After being ignored by several players walking down the tunnel, Sam Gagner handed the kid a stick and the look on his face was priceless.

The kid was flabbergasted.

Canucks goalie Jacob Markstrom then walks by and says with a smile, (“Look at that!”) as the kid laughed giddily.

The only thing missing was a “thank you,” but that happened Wednesday when the kid’s father posted the charming video below.

Gagner even saw the message of belated gratitude and responded.

A kid has a new stick. Gagner has a new fan. Stick taps all around.
