Wayne Gretzky to join Ron MacLean for ‘NHL Classics: Special Edition’

Canadian hockey legend Wayne Gretzky will join Ron MacLean in a special two-part series of NHL Classics on Sportsnet to re-live some of the biggest games in Stanley Cup Finals history.

Along with special guests, The Great One will share stories and memories, and give viewers a glimpse into his thoughts during some of the most memorable moments of his career.

NHL Classics: Special Edition with Wayne Gretzky and Ron MacLean premieres on Saturday, April 25 at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT on Sportsnet and Sportsnet NOW, and on the Sportsnet Radio Netowrk. The second part will air next Saturday, May 2.

• Saturday, April 25 at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT – Part I: 1993 Stanley Cup Final, Game 2 (Kings vs. Canadiens) with special guest Kirk Muller

With 1:45 left in the game, Marty McSorley is called for playing with an illegal stick. The ensuing power play propelled the Habs to an eventual Stanley Cup victory over Gretzky’s Kings in what would ultimately be his last Finals appearance.

• Saturday, May 2 at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT – Part II: 1989 Stanley Cup Final, Game 6 (Flames vs. Canadiens) with special guest Lanny McDonald

Captain Lanny McDonald and the Calgary Flames win the first Stanley Cup in franchise history after finally defeating Gretzky’s Oilers in the Conference Finals.
