Carolina Hurricanes forward Kevin Westgarth has been suspended two games for his hit on Ottawa Senators defenceman Mark Borowiecki.
Westgarth received a minor penalty for boarding when the incident occurred during the first period during Carolina’s 4-1 victory on Sunday.
Borowiecki remained down on the ice for several minutes before being helped to the dressing room. He didn’t return to the game due to a neck strain.
During his two game suspension, Westgarth will forfeit $7,435.90 in salary.
