Carolina Hurricanes forward Kevin Westgarth has been suspended for two games, without pay, for boarding Ottawa Senators defenseman Mark Borowiecki.

Carolina Hurricanes forward Kevin Westgarth has been suspended two games for his hit on Ottawa Senators defenceman Mark Borowiecki.

Westgarth received a minor penalty for boarding when the incident occurred during the first period during Carolina’s 4-1 victory on Sunday.

Borowiecki remained down on the ice for several minutes before being helped to the dressing room. He didn’t return to the game due to a neck strain.

During his two game suspension, Westgarth will forfeit $7,435.90 in salary.
