Blake Wheeler had two goals and an assist and Connor Hellebuyck was perfect in net to get the Jets a 3-0 win against the Blues.

The Toronto Maple Leafs and Winnipeg Jets are in similar positions heading into the final stretch of the season.

Both teams have had inconsistent stretches but find themselves within reasonable distance of a playoff position and have superstar rookies leading the charge.

Sportsnet Hotstove host Ben Ennis was joined by John Grigg and Arden Zwelling and they debated which of the two Canadian teams is in better standing for the future.

“As currently constructed, (the Jets) are better set up than the Maple Leafs,” Grigg said. “The Leafs don’t have a Dustin Byfuglien, they don’t even have a Jacob Trouba really. Their top end players are just as good as the Leafs top players for the most part.”

Grigg added that while the Leafs already have most of their top prospects in the lineup, the Jets still have plenty of reinforcements waiting.
