Panthers Wolski to become UFA on July 1

Winger Wojtek Wolski is set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1 after the Florida Panthers did not issue him a qualifying offer on Tuesday.

After starting off his NHL career strong with the Colorado Avalanche — registering over 40 points in each of his first four seasons — the 26-year-old has battled injuries

His best year came in 2009-10 when he had 23 goals and 65 points in 80 games split between the Avalanche and Phoenix Coyotes.

He also spent time with the New York Rangers before being shipped to Florida in the middle of last season.

Last year the Polish-born Canadian had three points in nine games with the Rangers, nine points in 22 games with the Panthers, and five points in six games with the Connecticut Whale of the American Hockey League.

The 21st-overall selection in the 2004 NHL Draft has 258 points in 424 career regular season games.

Also on Tuesday the Panthers made qualifying offers to pending restricted free agents Kris Versteeg, Dmitry Kulikov and Keaton Ellerby.
