Popping the question is a gutsy move, with its risks and benefits increasing when it’s in front of a crowd, and even more when it’s in the venue in which you work.

Last week, a Zamboni driver threw all fear of being humiliated out the window when he asked his girlfriend to take his hand his marriage. Instead of doing it in privacy, he made the bold move of popping the question at centre ice during an intermission in Game 5 of the AHL’s Western Conference Final between the Grand Rapids Griffins and the visiting San Jose Barracuda. He would be rewarded as his now-fiancée said yes, helping him also keep face in front of his colleagues.

While the Van Andel Arena held two different fan bases rooting against one another, it was nice to see them all cheer in unison for such a special moment the happy couple will surely always remember.
