QMJHL Roundup: Sea Dogs top Foreurs in OT to snap 17-game losing skid


SAINT JOHN, N.B. – The Saint John Sea Dogs’ franchise-record winless streak is over.

Robbie Burt scored twice in regulation and added another in overtime for the hat trick as the Sea Dogs topped the Val-d’Or Foreurs 4-3 on Friday to snap a 17-game losing streak in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Burt beat Jonathan Lemieux to notch the game-winning goal at 2:24 in the extra frame. Lemieux finished with 41 saves for Val-d’Or.

Charlie DesRoches also scored for the Sea Dogs (3-21-3). Michael Campoli and William Villeneuve tacked on two assists apiece.

Nicolas Ouellet, Jacob Gaucher and Jeremy Michel supplied the offence for the Foreurs (10-14-4).

Alex D’Orio turned aside 36 shots for Saint John.

Both the Sea Dogs and Foreurs cashed in on 1-of-5 power-play chances.


CHARLOTTETOWN — Cole Edwards scored the third-period winner as Charlottetown squeaked by Acadie-Bathurst for its sixth win in its past eight games.

Derek Gentile also scored for the Islanders (17-7-3) Liam Murphy scored for the Titan (5-21-1).

Dakota Lund-Cornish kicked out 18 shots for Charlottetown. Mark Grametbauer turned aside 44 shots in the loss.


SHERBROOKE, Que. — Jakob Pelletier had a goal and an assist as Moncton doubled up Sherbrooke.

Jeremy McKenna, Adam Capannelli, Jacob Stewart, Dylan Seitz and Mika Cyr also found the back of the net for the Wildcats (21-6-2). Nathael Roy, Patrick Guay and Alex-Olivier Voyer replied for the Phoenix (15-10-2).

Francis Leclerc turned away 36 shots for Moncton. Thommy Monette stopped 25 shots for Sherbrooke.


CHICOUTIMI, Que. — Philipp Kurashev scored 33 seconds into overtime as Quebec edged the Sagueneens.

Aleksei Sergeev and Gabriel Montreuil also scored for the Remparts (12-11-5). Justin Ducharme and Zachary Lavigne answered for the Sagueneens (11-9-7).

Dereck Baribeau stopped 22 shots for Quebec. Alexis Shank turned away 26 shots for Chicoutimi.


DRUMMONDVILLE, Que. — Joseph Veleno scored twice and added an assist as Drummondville plowed through Gatineau for its fifth consecutive win.

Pavel Koltygin added a pair of goals, while Maxime Comtois, Dawson Mercer and Gregor MacLeod had singles for the Voltigeurs (19-6-1). Charles-Antoine Roy, Darien Kielb and Shawn Boudrias supplied the offence for the Olympiques (10-14-3).

Olivier Rodrigue kicked out 18 shots for Drummondville. Creed Jones combined with Tristan Berube for 34 saves for Gatineau.


RIMOUSKI, Que. — Jimmy Huntington had a pair of goals as the Rimouski cruised past Victoriaville Tigres for its sixth win in its past seven games.

Frederyck Janvier, Alexis Lafreniere, Cedric Pare and Parker Bowman also got on the score sheet for the Oceanic (16-9-2). Egor Serdyuk scored the lone goal for the Tigres (11-13-3).

Carmine-Anthony Pagliarulo turned away 22 shots for Rimouski. Fabio Iacobo made 19 saves before being spelled by Vincent Paquette, who made nine saves in the third period.


SHAWINIGAN, Que. — Samuel Asselin scored a hat trick and tacked on an assist as Halifax dropped Shawinigan.

Raphael Lavoie and Xavier Parent also scored for the Mooseheads (18-7-1). Mathieu Boulianne and Gabriel Denis replied for the Cataractes (7-18-2).

Alexis Gravel turned away 14 shots for Halifax. Antoine Coulombe made 37 saves for Shawinigan.
