Welcome to the new sportsnet.ca

Today with the Beta launch of our new Website, we’ve embarked on an ambitious project here at sportsnet.ca, and you are a big part of it. Our mission is to create the very best sports site on the Web and, to do it, we’re going to need your help, your ideas, and yes, your patience.

As you’ll soon see, a lot has changed. We have added more stories, more tools, and more video—more of everything you asked for in a sports site—and by using responsive web design, we have created a website that works equally well on every device.

No more dragging or pinching to be able to consume the content you’re after.

We’re doing this for a couple of simple reasons. First of all, because we truly believe we have the very best content in the business. Whether it’s exclusive news stories, provocative commentary, deep analysis, statistical tools or up-to-the minute video, we have more than ever. Second, we’re doing it because we are sports fans too, and we want to create the sports site we always dreamed of using ourselves. We don’t think that perfect site exists yet. And we’d like to think this could be a first step toward building the ultimate fan destination on the Web.

We’re proud of all these improvements, but we have a bigger evolution in mind.

We want to be nimble and agile, and we want sportsnet.ca to constantly evolve along with the needs and desires of the millions of fans who join us here every month. We believe the very best ideas on how to create and present our content will come from you, the audience.

Recently we launched new apps for Apple iOS and BlackBerry 10, and next up will be a major overhaul of our Android app.

As for the Website, in the weeks ahead we will be introducing more personalization tools to make it even easier to customize your experience—making it easier to dive deeply into the sports you care most about, without having to wade through a lot of stuff you don’t want.

All of that brings us back to patience. We think we’ve made a huge leap forward with this new site, but we know we’re not there yet.

This evolution will come with a little frustration here and there. There will be bugs, hiccups, errors and other little problems along the way.

Please let us know what you find, and we will do our best to fix them. If you stick with us, we’ll do everything we can to make sure sportsnet.ca is your sports Website.

Thanks again for stopping by.

Have a look around, make yourself at home, and tell us how to get better.
