WHL Roundup: Zach Wytinck scores in OT, Wheat Kings edge Raiders

PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. – Zach Wytinck scored the winner at 3:06 of overtime as the Brandon Wheat Kings upset the league-leading Prince Albert Raiders 5-4 on Friday in Western Hockey League action.

Ben McCartney, Cole Reinhardt, Caiden Daley and Luka Burzan also scored for the Wheat Kings (25-22-7).

Parker Kelly struck twice while Sean Montgomery and Aliaksei Protas also scored for the Raiders (46-7-3), who had their five-game win streak halted.

Jiri Patera made 28 saves for the win as Boston Bilous stopped 23-of-28 shots in a losing cause.

The Wheat Kings went 0 for 3 on the power play while the Raiders were 1 for 2 with the man advantage.

REGINA — Max Paddock stopped 32 as the Pats blanked Edmonton.

Austin Pratt, Riley Krane, Carter Massier and Garrett Wright scored for Regina (16-37-3).

Todd Scott made 16 saves for the Oil Kings (31-18-8).

SWIFT CURRENT, Alta. — Jake Elmer potted a hat trick and Noah Boyko scored two more as Lethbridge dealt the Broncos their seventh loss in a row.

Logan Barlage and Nick Henry also scored for the Hurricanes (29-16-10).

Carter Chorney and Connor Horning struck for Swift Current (10-40-4).

CRANBROOK, B.C. — Kyle Crnkovic had two goals and two helpers while Eric Florchuk and Ryan Hughes added two goals each as Saskatoon toppled the Ice to run its point streak to 12 games.

Max Gerlach and Chase Wouters also scored to help the Blades (36-13-8) improve to 10-0-2 on its current run.

Peyton Krebs, Martin Bodak and Jaeger White replied for Kootenay (11-36-8).

KELOWNA, B.C. — Bryce Kindopp’s second goal of the night stood up as the winner as Everett slipped by the Rockets.

Gianni Fairbrother also scored for the Silvertips (39-13-3).

PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. — Tanner Sidaway scored twice as Victoria handed the Cougars their 14th loss in a row.

The Royals (28-23-3) also got goals from Kaid Oliver and Logan Doust.

KENNEWICK, Wash. — Wil Kushniryk scored the winner at 6:59 of the third as Tri-City downed Kamloops.

Sasha Mutala, Connor Bouchard, Nolan Yaremko and Parker AuCoin also scored for the Americans (30-20-3).

Montana Onyebuchi, Kobe Mohr and Brodi Stuart found the back of the net for the Blazers (21-28-5).

LANGLEY, B.C. — Jadon Joseph chipped in the winner at 15:46 of the third as Vancouver edged Spokane for its sixth straight victory.

Kaleb Bulych, Justin Sourdif, Milos Roman and Jared Dmytriw also scored for the Giants (38-13-3).

Luc Smith struck twice while Eli Zummack and Riley Woods also scored for the Chiefs (30-18-6).

THUNDERBIRDS 6 REBELS 4

KENT, Wash. — Henrik Rybinski and Matthew Weldman had two goals apiece as Seattle got by Red Deer.

Noah Philp and Andrej Kukuca rounded out the offence for the Thunderbirds (22-27-6).

Zak Smith, Alexander Alexeyev, Oleg Zaytsev and Reese Johnson scored for the Rebels (29-20-5).
