It took Connor Bedard just one minute and 13 seconds to start a new point streak.
Just one game after seeing his incredible 35-game WHL point streak snapped, the Regina Pats centre scored his 45th goal of the season in a 5-1 loss to the Medicine Hat Tigers on Sunday night.
Bedard's goal came just over a minute into the first period, when he took a beautiful pass from Borya Valis and wired it past Tigers goalie Beckett Langkow.
The 17-year-old phenom now has 45 goals in 38 games this season. He has also dished out 46 assists, amassing 91 total points in the 2022-23 season.
After Bedard opened the scoring, the Tigers scored five unanswered to take the 5-1 win.
BEDARD’S SEASON TOTALS: 38 GP, 45 G, 46 A, 91 Pts.
PATS’ RECORD: 24-22-3 (Seventh in Eastern Conference)
UP NEXT: The Pats host the Moose Jaw Warriors, who are fourth in the East, on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. CST.
With Bedard the top-ranked prospect for the 2023 NHL Draft, here's a look at the current lottery odds. There will be two lottery draws where the top two picks are up for grabs. The percentages below indicate the chances of a team winning the first lottery when the top pick is in play. However, teams can only move up a maximum of 10 spots in order, so if a team outside of the bottom 11 wins the first draw, they won't get the first overall pick. Therefore, while the 32nd-ranked team has an 18.5 per cent to win the first lottery, they still have a 25.5 per cent chance to pick first overall.
* denotes a team outside of the bottom 11 that can't get the first overall pick in the lottery
• Florida's unprotected first-round pick belongs to the Montreal Canadiens
