Ever since returning from the world juniors, Gavin McKenna has been fire on ice.
The 18-year-old from No. 8 Penn State scored the tying goal and recorded a hat trick in Friday night's 7-2 win over No. 5 Wisconsin.
But those were just the latest points in a tear that began when he returned to NCAA play. The top prospect has netted five goals and nine points in his last five games.
However, the star forward wasn't the only Penn State scorer wreaking havoc in Friday's game. Dane Dowiak also had three goals as the pair became the first-ever Penn State teammates to combine for a multiple hat trick game.
McKenna tied the game with a sweet five-on-three move before Dowiak added the go-ahead goal to seal the deal. After going down 2-0 early, Penn State recovered with seven unanswered goals.
McKenna finished the world juniors second in scoring with 14 points, and prior to the tournament, he netted four goals and 14 assists in 16 games with Penn State.
