OHL Roundup: Projected top 2022 prospect Shane Wright dominates in OHL season opener

Kingston Frontenacs' Shane Wright moves with the puck during OHL action against the Ottawa 67's in Kingston, Ont. on Friday Sept. 27, 2019 (Reuben Polansky-Shapiro/CP).

Shane Wright lived up to the anticipation on Friday night in his 2021-22 Ontario Hockey League season debut.

The Kingston Frontenacs forward recorded one goal and two assists en route to the team's 8-1 against the visiting Ottawa 67's. This was Wright's first game since the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the remainder of the 2019-20 season and cancelled the 2020-21 campaign.

Wright is the consensus top prospect in the 2022 NHL Draft. His first goal of the 2021-22 OHL season was a top-shelf shot from the high slot, giving Kingston its seventh goal of the game.

The 17-year-old assisted on two goals scored by his teammates, Francesco Arcuri and Paul Ludwinski.

The Frontenacs are back in action on Saturday when they take on the Mississauga Steelheads.
