The QMJHL has announced a number of schedule changes to create a longer Christmas break for its teams.
The original Christmas break was seven days from Dec. 20-27. Now, the break will be 15 days from Dec. 20 to Jan. 3.
“The QMJHL understands the importance of giving players and staff a moment to re-energize and spend time with their families in the middle of this challenging season,” the league said in a statement. “The regular season schedule has been reorganized accordingly to give a two-week break to teams.”
As part of the announcement, the QMJHL announced schedule changes for 12 Maritimes Division games. All games start at 7 p.m. AST.

Monday’s announcement comes one day after the QMJHL announced that seven teams in COVID-19 red zones in Quebec will be forming a bubble in Quebec City later this month.
In a statement Sunday, the QMJHL said “the Gatineau Olympiques, the Drummondville Voltigeurs, the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada, the Victoriaville Tigres, the Shawinigan Cataractes, the Chicoutimi Saguenéens and the Quebec Remparts will temporarily establish their headquarters in Quebec City to each play six regular season games” from Nov. 17 to 27. A schedule for those games has not been announced yet.
The province’s Assembly of Members unanimously approved the league’s plan to resume play in Quebec in a bubble format while Quebec Public Health officials reviewed the plan and offered some recommendations.
