QMJHL postpones return to action because of COVID-19 restrictions

With no immediate sign of restrictions loosening as Quebec struggles with rising COVID-19 cases, the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League announced Friday it is delaying its return to action.

A release from the league cited the reason for the delay was because of "no clear timeline yet of easing COVID-19 restrictions."

The league initially had scheduled its return for Monday, but now has pushed back the restart of its regular season until Feb. 1. The league maintains it is working on rescheduling all postponed games in order to complete a full 68-game schedule.

The OHL and WHL, by comparison, have each continued to postpone games on a team-by-team basis but have not paused league-wide action.
