QMJHL Roundup: Mirzabalaev's shootout winner lifts Foreurs over Olympiques

GATINEAU, Que. - Alexander Mirzabalaev scored in regulation and netted the shootout winner to lead the Val-d'Or Foreurs to a 4-3 victory over the Gatineau Olympiques in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League on Saturday.

The second-place Foreurs (3-0-1) remain undefeated in regulation time while the last-place Olympiques (0-1-2) have yet to win this season.

The Foreurs were down 2-0 when Nathan Bolduc scored with 54 seconds remaining in the second period. Alexandre Doucet and Mirzabalaev scored in the third period to give Val-d'Or a 3-2 lead.

Olivier Boutin sent the game to overtime with a goal at 13:31 of the third. Mathieu Bizier and Antonin Verreault scored in the first period for the home team.

All three of Gatineau's goals came on the power play. The Olympiques were 3 for 7 with the extra skater.

Goalie Philippe Cloutier stopped 36-of-39 pucks for the win while Emerik Despatie made 28 saves.

QUEBEC CITY _ Theo Rochette scored for the third time this season, and his first-period goal held as the winner for Quebec (3-1-0) over Chicoutimi (1-1-2). The Remparts have won three straight.

SHERBROOKE, Que. _ Xavier Parent and Julien Anctil each scored twice to give Sherbrooke (1-2-0) its first victory of the season. The Phoenix outshot the Drakkar 51-16.

HALIFAX _ Brady James turned aside all 32 shots he faced in Halifax's win over Charlottetown (3-1-0), which suffered its first defeat of the season. David Lafrance and Robert Orr scored for the Mooseheads (2-1-1).

SAINT JOHN, N.B. _ Ben Allison scored the only goal in the shootout to lead undefeated Acadie-Bathurst (4-0-0) over winless Saint John (0-3-1). Riley Kidney scored his fourth of the season for the Titan.
