QMJHL Roundup: Roy, Phoenix hand Armada their fourth straight loss

SHAWINIGAN, Que. -- Forward Joshua Roy had a goal and an assist, and the Sherbrooke Phoenix doubled up the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada 4-2 on Tuesday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

The 17-year-old Roy, who was selected No. 1 overall in the 2019 QMJHL Draft and is eligible for the upcoming NHL Draft, has 15 goals and 27 points in 24 games to crack the top-five in league scoring.

Anthony Munroe-Boucher, Xavier Parent and Israel Mianscum rounded out the offence for the Phoenix (3-11-2).

Yaroslav Likhachev and Miguel Tourigny scored for the Armada (13-5-1), who are on a four-game slide.

Samuel Hlavaj made 26 saves for Sherbrooke while Charles-Edward Gravel stopped 31-of-35 shots for Blainville-Boisbriand.

Roy was a member of the Saint John Sea Dogs when the QMJHL shut down on Dec. 1 due to COVID-19 protocols, but a January trade saw him head to the Phoenix, who gave up three firsts and a second-round pick for him. He has six goals and 10 points in nine games with Sherbrooke since the season resumed for Quebec-based teams.

The Sea Dogs have not played a game since Nov. 18 as they await approval from the New Brunswick government to return to play.

QUEBEC CITY -- Theo Rochette and James Malatesta had a goal and an assist each and Thomas Sigouin made 23 saves as the Remparts (12-4-1) dealt Rimouski (7-16-4) its fourth straight loss, while improving to 4-0-1 in their last five contests.

QUEBEC CITY -- Lucas Fitzpatrick kicked out 39-of-40 shots and Xavier Fortin scored a short-handed goal in the first period that held up as the winner as Baie-Comeau (8-16-2) snapped a five-game losing streak with a win over Gatineau (8-8-2).
