The cancellation of the 2022 World Junior Hockey Championship sent shockwaves through the country on Wednesday, with a third forfeited game in two days leading to the eventual decision.

With the world juniors being a holiday tradition and a career highlight for many players, there was plenty of disappointment at the news, including from Alberta premier Jason Kenney.

Some media and fans tried to look at the bright side.

Others came up with a creative compromise.

Whatever transpires from here, that is the reality of life in a global pandemic.
