PETERBOROUGH, Ont. — Matthew Soto had three goals and two assists as the Peterborough Petes cruised past the Oshawa Generals 7-3 on Thursday night in Ontario Hockey League action.
Adam Novotný, with two goals, Brennan Faulkner and Kaden McGregor provided the rest of the offence for Peterborough (4-4-0-1). Easton Rye kicked out 24 shots.
Vadim Smirnov, Brooks Rogowski and Owen Griffin replied for Oshawa (4-7-0). Jaden Cholette stopped 30 of 37 shots, while Isaac Gravelle made three saves in the final 10:03 of the game.
The Petes scored four straight after Rogowski opened the scoring 2:47 into the contest. Peterborough netted another three straight after Smirnov made it a 4-2 game 13:50 into the second period.
The home side went 1 for 5 on the power play, in addition to a short-handed goal from Soto. The Generals were 1 for 4 thanks to Griffin's goal with 2:46 left in the game.
