It's safe to say the Ruck family will remember Sept. 1, 2026, for a long time.
During Tuesday night's pre-season game between the Medicine Hat Tigers and Lethbridge Hurricanes, twins Liam and Markus Ruck took their usual spot on the Tigers' top line.
But this time the two Pittsburgh Penguins' draft picks were joined by their younger brother, Landon, marking the first time the three brothers have played together as linemates.
Making it extra special was the fact that it happened in Lethbridge, where their dad, Derek, once played for the Hurricanes.
As for how the sibling chemistry played out?
Liam scored a hat trick, Markus had a goal and two assists and Landon picked up an assist in a 5-3 win for the Tigers.
"It was awesome," Landon, 15, said of playing with his older brothers for the first time. "Might be the only time I ever play with them, so it was a dream, and it was nice to get a couple goals out there."
If the brothers filling up the scoresheet wasn't enough, their mom, Nina, also took home a little extra cash when she won the 50/50 prize.
"I'm sure she's more happy watching us play, for sure," Markus said, when asked about if his mom was more excited about the 50/50 win or how the brothers played. "But it's kind of just the bonus and the cherry on top."
The Ruck twins are slated to play one more Western Hockey League season before heading to the University of North Dakota in 2027-28.
The 18-year-old forwards are coming off banner seasons with the Tigers that saw them finish first and second in scoring across the entire Canadian Hockey League.
Liam was selected 22nd overall by the Penguins in this summer's NHL Draft, before Pittsburgh then also grabbed Markus with the 39th-overall pick in the second round.
