USA Hockey announced its 2022 world junior hockey championship roster Tuesday, headlined by defenceman Brock Faber and forward Matthew Beniers.

The Americans beat Team Canada in the finals to secure the gold at the 2021 world juniors. The defending champion's squad features six skaters who participated in that tournament, including forwards Beniers, Brett Berard, Landon Slaggert and defencemen Faber, Tyler Kleven and Jake Sanderson.

Faber, playing for the University of Minnesota of the NCAA, has recorded two goals and nine points in 18 games. Beniers -- the first player ever drafted by the Seattle Kraken -- has 11 goals and 11 assists for the University of Michigan.

In the 2021 world juniors, Faber -- a Kings prospect -- had five assists while Beniers had one goal and two assists in seven games.

“We have had a long process evaluating this team dating back to the Summer Showcase and scouting these players throughout their seasons,” said John Vanbiesbrouck, General Manager of 2022 U.S National Junior Team, in a press release. "We believe in these 25 players and we all have the same goal heading into Alberta.”

Team USA's schedule begins on Dec. 26 with a matchup against Slovakia.
