BATHURST, N.B. — Mathieu Cataford scored a hat trick and Jordan Dumais recorded a game-high four points Wednesday as the Halifax Mooseheads defeated the Acadie-Bathurst Titan 6-4.

Cataford scored the game’s opening two goals before Riley Kidney put the Titan (1-2-1) on the board in the second period. In the third, Cataford notched his second power-play goal and third overall of the night, followed by a Dumais score to put the Mooseheads (2-0-0) up 4-1. Dumais also recorded three assists.

After two goals from Blake Pilgrim-Edwards and Ben Allison made it 4-3, it was Stephane Jr. Huard, then Markus Vidicek who put the game out of reach for Halifax late in the final period.

Dylan Andrews added one more for Acadie-Bathurst with just over two minutes remaining, but that was as close as the team would get.
