Barring a collapse, Canadian teen Yeji Kwon will earn a spot in the final portion of the LPGA Tour's qualifying series on Friday.
The 18-year-old from Port Coquitlam, B.C., was tied for sixth after her third round of the 72-hole qualifying stage in the LPGA Q-Series on Thursday.
Kwon, who turned professional a few months ago, is at 9 under after shooting a 3-under 69 in the third round. She is six shots back of leader Zoe Antoinette Campos of the U.S.
The top 35 and ties advance to final qualifying in December. The top 25 and ties at the latter tournament earn LPGA Tour status.
Monet Chun of Richmond Hill, Ont., is clinging to one of the final-qualifying spots as she was tied for 34th at 3 under.
Josee Doyon of St-Georges-de-Beauce, Que., and Maddie Szeryk of London, Ont., were at 2 under.
