Brooke Henderson had one of the best off weeks of her career last week.
The Canadian golf superstar announced Sunday she and long-time boyfriend Ricky Castro had gotten engaged on July 14.
“The beginning of forever,” the pair captioned a post on Instagram. “We are beyond excited and blessed to announce our engagement with one another!”
Henderson has just come off a tremendous two-tournament stretch where she finished tied for third and second, respectively, at back-to-back major championships and was home in Florida for a week with the LPGA Tour having a break in its schedule.
It’s been a summer of happy news for the Henderson family, as Brittany Henderson, Brooke's sister and her husband welcomed a daughter, Sahalee, on June 25.
Henderson was in Edmonton on Monday for the media day of the 2026 CPKC Women’s Open, where she will be the defending champion at Royal Mayfair Golf Club in August.
Castro is a minor-league baseball pitcher for the St. Paul Saints, part of the Minnesota Twins system. He holds a 5-1 record in 2026, the first year he’s been promoted to triple-A.
The pair met by chance almost two years ago when Brooke and Brittany had a rare Sunday of practice at their club in southwest Florida and Castro was also there with some of his teammates. They began dating in March 2025.
“I travel for a living, and all the demands that come (with it) mentally and physically. And so it’s been really cool to learn about his sport too. Being a pitcher and a golfer, there are a lot of similarities, and I feel like we’ve been able to learn from each other and support each other, which has been really nice,” Henderson told Sportsnet.ca in November of their relationship.
Henderson will tee it up as an engaged woman for the first time at the AIG Women’s Open, the final major of the season, next week in England.
