There wasn't supposed to be an MLB playoff game on Sunday, but here we are, and it's shaping up to be a good one.
Friday's ALCS Game 4 was pushed to Saturday for weather, and the Rays took advantage, putting out their best offensive performance of the post-season and taking it 7-3.
Tampa Bay will look to build off that momentum in Game 5 (Sportsnet, 4:30 p.m ET / 1:30 PT) with its best pitcher on the mound in Drew Rasmussen, taking on Parker Messick and the Guardians.
Rasmussen was outstanding for Tampa Bay all season and even better in these playoffs, going 1-0 with 1.29 ERA in his two post-season starts. Now that Tampa Bay's offence is heating up, the Guardians will have their work cut out for them.
Messick has a respectable 3.09 ERA over three starts these playoffs, but has not gotten the support from his offence, going 0-2, including the loss in Game 2 on Tuesday.
For Cleveland, the bats need to get going. The Guardians have scored just seven runs over their last three games combined, as the Rays' pitching has kept them in check throughout the series.
It may come down to Guardians star Jose Ramirez, who was held hitless on Saturday. When Ramirez is productive, good things happen for Cleveland.
The series heads back to Tampa Bay on Monday.
