The Athletics might have lost a valuable part of their lineup to an injury.
Canadian outfielder Denzel Clarke was forced to leave late in Sunday's game against the Cleveland Guardians with a lower-body injury.
The Toronto native suffered the ailments while running around third base to home. Clarke would score, but he slowed down while he appeared to be labouring with his right leg.
Clarke went straight to the clubhouse and did not return to the game as Max Schuemann replaced him in centre field.
The 25-year-old Clarke is slashing .230/.274/.372 with three home runs and eight RBIs through 47 games in his rookie season.
The Athletics selected Clarke in the fourth round of the 2021 MLB Draft.
