The Toronto Blue Jays will face a longtime foe on Opening Day.
Luis Severino will get the start for the Athletics when the teams open the 2026 season on Friday at Rogers Centre (Sportsnet, Sportsnet+, 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT).
Severino will be followed by Jeffrey Springs on Saturday and Luis Morales on Sunday, per MLB.com reporter Martin Gallegos.
The Blue Jays will counter with Kevin Gausman on Opening Day followed by Dylan Cease and Eric Lauer.
Severino, 32, posted a 4.54 ERA and 1.303 WHIP in 29 starts for the Athletics last season.

The former New York Yankee joined the Athletics ahead of last season after spending 2024 with the New York Mets. He was a teammate of Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s with the Dominican Republic at the World Baseball Classic, where he appeared in two games, allowing two earned runs over 7.1 innings while striking out 11.
Meanwhile, the 35-year-old Gausman will get his first career opening-day start with the Blue Jays after pitching to 3.59 ERA over 32 starts last season and posting a 2.93 ERA over six post-season appearances.
Springs, 33, made 32 appearances with the Athletics last season, recording a 4.65 ERA and 138 strikeouts over 171 innings.
Morales, 23, made his MLB debut with the team last season, pitching in 10 games with a 3.14 ERA and 43 punchouts over 48.2 innings.
