Jansen will be in the starting lineup catching Hyun-Jin Ryu Tuesday. He has been out of the lineup for five weeks due to a hamstring issue but is coming off a successful rehab assignment at triple-A, hitting .238/.346/.381 with one home run in seven games. The 26-year-old has struggled at the plate in the majors this season, hitting just .176/.259/.336 in 49 games.
Thornton has struggled this season in his first as a full-time reliever, registering a 4.60 ERA in 36 appearances.
Hand was acquired by the Blue Jays from the Nationals — where he was the everyday closer — in the lead up to the trade deadline but struggled in 11 appearances with Toronto. Since the trade, Hand pitched to a 7.27 ERA with 13 hits against in only 8.2 innings pitched.
The Blue Jays return to the field Tuesday night at home against the Orioles. You can watch the game on Sportsnet and SN Now beginning at 7:07 p.m. ET/ 4:07 p.m. PT.
