The Toronto Blue Jays will have George Springer available for their series finale against the Boston Red Sox.
Spring has been activated off the injured list on Wednesday, but won't be in the starting lineup (first pitch 3:07 p.m. ET on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+).
Springer is available to come off the bench, Sportsnet's Hazel Mae reported.
To make room for Springer, Eloy Jiménez has been designated for assignment. The 29-year-old had a .290 batting average with three RBIs in 12 games.
Springer, who has been out with a broken big toe since April 11, hit and ran on Tuesday for a second straight day.
Springer was slashing .185/.290/.370 with two homers and four doubles before the injury, and his absence has left a huge hole at the top of the Blue Jays lineup.
With Springer out, Ernie Clement, Nathan Lukes, Myles Straw and Davis Schneider have all appeared in the leadoff spot for the Blue Jays.
It has been a tough start to the season for Toronto on the injury front, as Springer, Addison Barger and Alejandro Kirk, as well as a handful of pitchers, have missed significant time over the month of April.
