With Opening Day less than a week away, the Toronto Blue Jays assigned 10 players to the team’s minor-league group on Saturday.
The Blue Jays optioned Riley Adams, Santiago Espinal, Joel Payamps and Josh Palacios, while reassigning Dany Jimenez, Richard Urena, Kevin Smith, Forrest Wall, Kirby Snead and Tyler White.
Based on MLB Pipeline’s rankings, Adams is the No. 19 prospect in the Blue Jays’ minor-league system. Palacios is No. 29 and Smith is No. 30.
Toronto’s 2021 season gets underway on Thursday against the New York Yankees on Sportsnet with a 1:05 p.m. ET/10:05 a.m. first pitch. In the meantime, spring training continues for the Blue Jays over the weekend with Grapefruit League contests against the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday and Detroit Tigers on Sunday, both also airing on Sportsnet.
